Civil and criminal contracting

The General Criminal Contract is the means through which all criminal defence work is funded, up to disposal in the magistrates' courts, by the Criminal Defence Service (CDS). Information on criminal contracting  is available in the CDS section of the site.

The General Civil Contract (Solicitors) provides the mechanism for the provision of publicly funded civil legal services through solicitors’ offices. Information on civil contracting is available in the CLS section of the site.
