Legal and means assessment
This team processes applications for public funding in civil cases including:
- checking financial eligibility
- checking whether the legal merits of the application meet our criteria.
The team also deals with:
- all requests for changes to granted applications
- appeals against refusal
- related correspondence.
Civil finance
This work includes:
- processing of all requests for payments at the conclusion of the case
- payments on account while the case is going on.
The team decides whether:
- monies are payable back to us under the “statutory charge”
- deals with all related correspondence.
Customer Service Unit
Our dedicated Customer Service Team deals directly with:
- all incoming calls responding to all business process related telephone enquiries
- handling other forms of urgent enquiry
- dealing with complaints.
Contracting
The contracting team works with contracted service providers to ensure access to quality legal services throughout the Midlands.
Relationship managers/account managers
Relationship and account managers work closely with civil and criminal service providers to:
- maintain relations with services providers
- meet the needs identified and the demand anticipated for legal services
- audit contracted providers to ensure quality.
Senior caseworkers
The senior caseworkers carry out Contract Compliance and Cost Assessment (CCCA) Audits and associated appeals.
They deal with general Legal Help Extensions on a daily basis.
Contracting administrators
These are at the heart of all work carried out in procurement.
They are responsible for amendments to Civil and Criminal Contracts and produce and maintain the Duty Solicitor Rotas.
The team also organises all of audits and manage the large quantity of audit files entering and leaving the office.
