New home for LSC websites
10 November 2010LSC working with MoJ to move all our web content to the Justice and Directgov websites
The content of our websites for LSC providers and legal aid clients is on the move.
The transfer is part of a cross-government initiative aimed at making it easier for customers to find information.
All government departments are reducing the number of websites they have with content being moved to one of three sites:
- Directgov – information aimed at the public
- Departmental website (for us this is the Justice website) – information on the work of the department and for practitioners, including legal aid providers
- Business link – information for businesses
What does it mean?
- For legal aid providers – all LSC websites will be closed by March 2011 with most of the information being moved across to the Justice website
- For legal aid clients – the Community Legal Advice (CLA) website will also close at the end of March 2011. Information will instead be available on the Directgov website.
Information currently on our websites (our corporate site, CLA, LSRC and provider training sites) will be reviewed alongside that of other government departments to make sure it isn’t duplicated.
Revised content will then be published on the Justice and Directgov websites.
Functions such as the legal aid eligibility calculator and online transactions for legal aid providers will continue to be available but will be accessed through these two websites.
Who is responsible for this work?
Responsibility for this programme rests with the MoJ under a ‘web convergence project’.
We’re working closely with the MoJ to ensure all information and functions are transferred smoothly and that people can easily find the information they need once the LSC websites close.
Where will legal aid provider information sit?
We’ll be working closely with MoJ to look at where best to site the information for providers on the Justice website.
Once this has been agreed we will make sure that providers know where to go to find the information and functions that they need, eg, Forms, LSC Online, contract information etc.
What work is being done on the CLA website?
New content will be written for the Directgov website and will start going live in the next few months. The existing CLA website will continue until Directgov meets all user needs.
Once the CLA site closes, the CLA web address will remain live for one year and will redirect visitors to Directgov.
The CLA helpline will continue as normal. We’re working with MoJ to keep interactive tools such as the directory, ‘call me back’ button and eligibility calculator.
Further information
We’ll provide progress reports as more information becomes available.
