Community Legal Advice and LSC websites – latest news
23 March 2011Update on the web convergence programme
As previously advised there is a cross-government initiative to reduce the number of government websites to make it easier for people to find the information they need online.
Community Legal Advice website
The Community Legal Advice (CLA) website will close on 6 April. Information about legal aid and how to access CLA services will move to www.direct.gov.uk. Therefore, people can continue to check if they qualify for legal aid using the online calculator, access the provider directory and get details about the CLA helpline.
A copy of the CLA site will be taken shortly before it closes. This copy and all earlier snapshots will be held in the National Archives at http://webarchive.nationalarchives.gov.uk/*/http://www.communitylegaladvice.org.uk/
CLA information on the Directgov website
- There is a dedicated legal aid section on Directgov under the government, citizens and rights section. There will also be specific pages on areas of law that CLA can help with (debt, education, welfare benefits and tax credits, employment, housing and family problems).
- The Eligibility Calculator which currently sits on the CLA website will be at legalaidcalculator.justice.gov.uk
- The Legal Adviser Directory will be at legaladviserfinder.justice.gov.uk Any correspondence about an entry to the Directory should go through Relationship Managers
- The Call Me Back form for the CLA helpline will be on a page with other CLA contact details at www.direct.gov.uk/contactCLA. There will be links to this from other appropriate places throughout the Directgov site.
LSRC website
The LSRC website will also close on 6 April and content from that site will be moved to justice.gov.uk.
LSC website
- The LSC website will remain for the time being until convergence onto the justice.gov.uk site later this year.
- Access to LSC Online, the LSC Manual and the eTendering portal will stay the same.
- When we’re closer to the changeover, we’ll give you more information.
