Help influence how the LSC implements change
22 November 2007
Submit your interest for membership of a Provider Reference Group
The LSC wants to create better channels for two-way communication with providers with whom we contract.
We understand that implementing change will be most effective by:
- working with our providers
- using their knowledge and experience to help shape training and materials to introduce legal aid reform.
Implementing change at a local level
We want to set up regional provider reference groups (PRGs) to address understanding and implementing change at a local level.
We will have regional provider reference groups for both civil and crime. Membership will be around 10 legal aid fee earners and each group will meet a maximum of three times a year.
Regional PRGs will hold their first meetings in early 2008.
How will the PRGs work?
The groups are not representative bodies and interested members of each group will be invited to apply.
The goal is a balance of experience, skills and knowledge and a commitment to effectively implement change.
The LSC will table papers for the groups to discuss that will help us develop good practice with regards to change.
Testing new ideas
We want to be sure that what we are proposing works. We will use these groups to test:
- new ideas as they emerge
- practicability or proposed new processes.
The PRGs objective is to develop a two-way dialogue about change issues.
