Preparing for care and supervision proceedings

A best practice guide has been issued for all professionals involved in care proceedings

All professional involved in care proceedings can now refer to a best practice guide called ‘Preparing for Care and Supervision Proceedings’.

The Ministry of Justice has put together the guide in co-operation with the:

Peer reviews

The guide has been extensively peer reviewed by professionals from the various field of expertise including social work, legal, Cafcass/CAFCASS CYMRU, and HMCS.

The guide gives practical advice on the various stages that need to be undertaken pre-proceedings.

Detailed guidance

It also gives examples of best practice, document templates, clarification on the roles of those involved, and directs readers towards more detailed guidance on specific issues.

The LSC has contributed to the guide, which includes information about the legal aid funding available in care proceedings.
