For some time the LSC has been in discussions with representative bodies to see whether there were measures that could be introduced to ease the additional cash-flow burden that immigration and mental health providers face when carrying out Controlled Work. 

Some of the suggestions that have been considered are simply unaffordable in the current financial climate. 

However following discussions between Lord Bach and the representative bodies it has been decided that the LSC should include an optional periodic billing of disbursements (not including Counsel’s fees) for cases opened under the new Civil Contracts when it comes into effect in October 2010. 

We have amended the draft Standard Civil Contract to reflect these changes.
