Provider payments in March

09 March 2010

An important update on payments to providers in March

In January 2009, the Legal Services Commission (LSC) increased the frequency of its payments to legal aid service providers so that it now pays bills weekly.  We did so recognising that some providers may be experiencing economic difficulties.

Although we will continue to make weekly payments, service providers who submit bills for civil representation, crown court litigation and very high cost case work may experience a delay in payments from the middle to the end of March.

Delays will only affect some bills that would normally have been paid on the weeks commencing 15, 22 and 29 March.  However, all such bills will be paid in full in the first week of April as part of the normal weekly payment.

This one-off delay will not affect Standard Monthly Payments or any other payments.

If this rescheduling of payments is likely to create serious financial problems for your organisation, please email your normal contact at the Legal Services Commission at the earliest opportunity.
