Manchester Community Legal Advice Service (CLAS) update
01 September 2010New legal advice service commissioned
The LSC and Manchester City Council have commissioned Manchester Citizens Advice Bureau to run a new, city-wide, legal advice service in conjunction with Shelter, Glaisyers Solicitors, Platt Halpern Solicitors and Cheetham Hill Advice Centre,
The new service will have almost £9 million injected into it over the next three years.
Operating from several sites throughout the city, the service will be easy to access. Permanent locations will be based in the north, central and south districts of Manchester. There will also be a number of outreach points designed to make the service as accessible as possible.
To ensure that people aren’t referred elsewhere and deterred from getting the help they need, the new service will offer all levels of help, from general advice to legal representation, on a full range of social welfare law and family problems.
The new service will open its doors on 14 October 2010.
