Invitation to tender for housing possession court duty schemes
08 August 2008Tender launched to provide emergency help to those facing housing possession proceedings
The LSC has begun a tender process to deliver Housing Possession Court Duty Schemes in selected county courts throughout England.
Emergency legal aid schemes for people facing repossession of their homes are to be set up in 20 more county courts with still more court schemes in the pipeline.
There are already LSC-funded schemes covering 94 courts around the country. This invitation to tender aims to extend coverage to those courts where no help is currently available.
Organisations can tender to deliver housing advice to clients who are listed to attend the county court about possession proceedings and haven't had advice before the hearing.
They will offer on-the-day advice and advocacy to clients who have a hearing listed at court. This is irrespective of eligibility under means and merits tests.
All successful organisations must ensure cover is provided at court on all the days the possession hearings are heard.
This is an open tender process. Organisations wishing to tender don't need to be current providers. New entrants to the market are welcome.
