About Community Legal Advice helpline
Community Legal Advice helpline provides those eligible for legal aid with specialist independent advice about:
- debt
- education
- benefits and tax credits
- employment
- housing problems.
Did you know?
- we are shortly offering a full specialist casework service to deal with family problems
- we have extended our opening hours
- people can now request a call back
- we offer a 3 way translation service in 170 languages plus type talk
- our website is available in 10 languages
- we offer British Sign Language (BSL) services and a full advice service via web cam
- all of our specialist providers are subject to peer review.
How can practitioners help promote the helpline?
- encourage staff to refer clients to Community Legal Advice
- hand out our business cards
- visit the Community Legal Advice website
- use Community Legal Advice to help you manage your capacity and appointment times
- refer to Community Legal Advice if your own organisation does not specialise in the services that CLA offers
- use Community Legal Advice for people who have mobility problems or whose first language is not English
- refer those who face problems with travel to Community Legal Advice
- put up posters or display information leaflets in your waiting areas - order them online
- link your website to the Community Legal Advice website
- keep up-to-date with developments by signing up for the Community Legal Advice quarterly newsletter.
