The LSC and the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (IALS) are recruiting independent peer reviewers in the categories of Community Care or Employment.
Could you be an independent peer reviewer?
You need to be a legal aid practitioner who provides a high quality service to your clients while guiding the careers of your colleagues. You must be a specialist in the category of Community Care or Employment, with wide casework and supervision experience. You should be a solicitor or have a relevant legal qualification such as FILEX. For the full requirements of the role, please refer to the Peer Reviewer Personal Specification in the Documents section on the top right side of this page.
As an independent peer reviewer, you'll assess the quality of work carried out by legal aid providers and work with experts from IALS who manage the peer review process. There may also be opportunities to work with the LSC on quality issues requiring practitioner experience.
You'll be contracted on a consultancy basis and should be available for 36 days per year while continuing with your usual work under the LSC contract. The role may require travel to different LSC regional offices. Peer reviewers are paid £375 per day plus travel and subsistence expenses. The closing date for applications is Friday 3 December 2010. Interviews will be held on 18 January 2010 in London.
