What is the Compact?
The Compact on relations between government and the voluntary and community sector provides the framework for partnership working between the two.
We are committed to implementing its principles.
The Compact applies in England but we are also taking forward joint working initiatives in Wales with voluntary and community sector partners.
How we work with the voluntary sector
The LSC deals with the voluntary sector in two ways:
- there is a broad and wide ranging relationship in that agencies can help improve public services and engage with clients
- there is a smaller group of agencies that we contract with to provide legal services.
Our relationship with this second group is narrower and governed by contract and procurement law.
Our statement on the Compact
The LSC's Chief Executive has published a statement on the Compact and its application in relation to legal aid procurement, consultation and client engagement.
The statement is under Documents.
