Important Note: The Unified Contract (Civil) 2007 has now been extended until midnight on 30 November 2011 for only the suppliers who currently deliver 'family only' and 'family and housing' publicly funded legal services. As soon as further information is available on the new family fees it will be announced on our website at CLS News, the LSC Update, and communicated to representative bodies.
About the family fee schemes from 2010
The new family fee schemes will apply to all new cases started from the implementation date of the new fee schemes. In most cases the new fee schemes replace the payment of hourly rates with standard fees. These schemes are:
- A family advocacy scheme (FAS), which creates a single graduated fee scheme covering payments to both solicitor advocates and barristers for public and private family law cases.
- A fixed fee private family law representation scheme (PFLRS), which pays solicitors standard fees for work (excluding advocacy) from the issue of proceedings up to the conclusion of the final hearing
