We recently announced a tender process for up to £10 million of new civil legal advice. The closing date for bids was 7th August 2008. We published a timeline from publication of documents to award of contracts in section 2.12 of the Information for Applicants. Due to the high number of tenders received, particularly from new organisations, the assessment of the bids will take longer than anticipated.

We have therefore amended the timeline as follows:

 Stage 5  Essential Criteria assessed and where not met, the Tender will go no further and unsuccessful organisations will be notified in writing.  5 September 2008
 Stage 6  Final Date for receipt of Appeals rejected at Essential Criteria.  12 September 2008
 Stage 7  Final date decisions made, offer, final rejections and appeal outcomes letters sent.  19 September 2008
 Stage 8  Final Date for receipt of Appeals rejected at Selection and Tiebreaker Stages.  10 October 2008
 Stage 9  Revised Unified Contract (Civil) Schedules (for existing providers) or new Unified Contract (Civil)s (for new providers) issued. No set date However we estimate it will be within 2 weeks of the date the offer letter is sent.
 Stage 10  Commencement of Service No set date however it must be within 12 weeks of the date the offer letter is sent.

Successful organisations will also be authorised to provide representation to eligible clients in certain categories of law.

We're inviting tenders to deliver family and/or social welfare law services (a minimum of 3 social welfare law categories from debt, housing, welfare benefits, community care and employment) in specific procurement areas across England and Wales.

We are also inviting Expressions of Interest in the provision of Family Mediation services.
