Working towards a replacement very high cost case (VHCC) scheme

05 August 2009

Help required for data collection

We're working with the other members of the VHCC working group to work out options for a replacement scheme.

We plan to consult on these options later this year.

More about these options

One of those options is being developed by a sub-group of advocates (barristers and solicitor-advocates).

It will sit alongside several other options put forward by the LSC.

How we're working out the options

The proposed options will be modelled on fresh data that the Bar Council is collating.

The data comes from closed cases from Jan 09 to present.

This will ensure accuracy.

Practitioners with closed cases within this time frame have been asked to provide details to help the data collection exercise.

Please help us collect data

There has been a slow response from practitioners in completing and returning the forms sent out.

We appreciate those forms that have been returned so far and we encourage others to return theirs over the coming weeks.

Your support in this exercise would be much appreciated.
