Information for potential prison law supervisors

20 January 2010

An overview of how to meet the requirements for the prison law supervisor standard

Under the 2010 Standard Crime Contract, organisations will only be eligible for Prison Law work if they have or employ a Prison Law Supervisor.

A supervisor can be a partner, principal or employee of your organisation who actively supervises staff and meets all of the supervisory requirements for Prison Law set out in the 2010 Standard Crime Contract.

We have published some information which provides an overview of how to meet the requirements of the Prison Law Supervisor Standard for those organisations who wish to undertake Prison Law work under the 2010 Standard Crime Contract.

It covers some of the general LSC supervisor requirements as well as Prison Law specific requirements. This information is in order to help potential Prison Law supervisors begin to prepare their portfolio in advance of the application process.

You can find the information on the documents panel of the prison law funding page.

The information reflects the current draft of the 2010 Standard Crime Contract. While it is unlikely to change, applicants should note that the final arrangements for Prison Law supervisors will be those set out in the final version of the 2010 Standard Crime Contract which will be published by 15 February 2010.

Background

To do Prison Law work from July 2010 you will be required to take part in the application process for a 2010 Standard Crime Contract which will open on 15 February 2010.

In your application you will be asked to indicate whether your organisation wishes to do Prison Law work from July 2010. If so, you will be asked to complete and submit a supervisor standard form.

You can submit the form either with your application or up to four weeks before the 2010 contract starts.
