Practice direction and criminal procedure rules

18 August 2010

An important update for providers

A requirement for Pages of Prosecution Evidence (PPE) in the Crown Court to be numbered, indexed and for the prosecution to provide a running total of PPE was handed down by the Lord Chief Justice on 30 July 2010.

This follows a recommendation by a PPE Sub-group consisting of representatives from the Legal Services Commission, HMCS, Crown Prosecution Service, Whitehall Prosecutor’s Group, The Law Society and the Bar Council.

The requirement should promote efficient and expeditious case progression in the Crown Court as well as provide litigators and advocates with the evidence required to support the PPE form and graduated fee claims.

The LSC is grateful to all members of the Sub-group for this achievement.
