- panel members: by name and by location
- panel advocates: by name and by location.
Advocates on the panel will be offered the opportunity to carry out some of the most high profile and highest paid criminal cases.
What happens if no panel advocates are available?
A Funding Order amendment has been laid in Parliament to enable solicitors firms to use non panel advocates if no panel advocate with the required skill and experience is available.
Solicitor firms on the panel will:
- have a contractual responsibility to instruct a suitable advocate
- be able to negotiate directly with advocates to set their fees.
However, the LSC will only pay for non panel advocacy services at the same rate as finalised by the tender process.
