How we work with the Crown Court

We help to represent clients involved with Crown Court proceedings. We are accountable for all higher court expenditure.

Since 1997 the Advocates Graduated Fee Scheme (AGFS) was introduced for counsel advocates involved in legally aided Crown Court work. Amendments have been made to the scheme since then and further changes will take place in the near future.

Since 2008 a new graduated fee scheme for litigators who work on legally aided Crown Court work was introduced.

Establishing Pages of Prosecution

An improved way of establishing the pages of prosecution evidence (PPE) for Crown Court cases came into effect 1 May.

It examined best practice across the country and recommended a new process for establishing PPE be implemented .

The new process for establishing PPE in crown court cases is contained in an easy to follow flowchart

There is also the PPE confirmation form to be completed by the advocate on behalf of the defence team.
