Duty solicitor information

Whilst we are producing the July 2012 rotas we will be mirroring the phone service provided by Crime Case Management, our telephone line will be open from 10 to 12 and 3 till 5.

This will enable us to dedicate as much of our time as possible to preparing the rotas.

As requested in previous communications can you please email us with any feedback or queries.

Duty solicitor rotas are handled by National Duty Performance Team.

The Deadline for CDS12 submissions to gain slots on the July 2012 rotas will be Monday 14th of May.

If this will be your first application to get on the duty solicitor rotas, we will also require a copy of your CLAS certificate (Criminal Litigation Accreditation Scheme) or evidence that you have applied for it. If submitting evidence the CLAS has been applied for, we will require a copy of your CLAS certificate once it is received (before the rota start date)

The CLAS or evidence of application needs to be submitted with your CDS12, as the CLAS is evidence that you are qualified.

If you are already on a rota, and are not moving firms or schemes you do not need to submit anything, as we will carry your details forward.

Please get your CDS12’s to us as soon as possible, as the sooner we get the CDS12’s dealt with, the more time we can dedicate to making the rotas.

If you didn’t receive a copy of your rota in December 2011 you may want to contact us now to update your contact details/email address so that you get the next rotas directly.

Duty Solicitor Scheme members lists July 2012 – January 2013 will be published on Wednesday 16 May 2012.

We will be putting all duty scheme membership lists for July 2012 – January 2013 on our web page at http://www.legalservices.gov.uk/criminal/dutysolicitorinformation.asp

We are publishing the duty solicitor scheme members lists in advance to give you the opportunity to advise us of any issues that you observe with your firms membership, or schemes.

The deadline for all feedback will be Saturday 19th May. We are applying a strict deadline as we have to publish all rotas on 14th June, therefore leaving just over 3 weeks to produce all national rotas after this feedback has been received and dealt with.

Please be advised that some feedback (examples below), will be investigated, but these can take a while to conclude and therefore these issues may not be resolved before the July 2012 rotas are finalised.

Mr Jones hasn’t been seen at the Police Station for a long time

Mrs Smith has not been seen in Court for Months

Mr Thompson only works 3 days a week – who gets his slots
