Points of Principle of General Importance

Points of Principle (POPs) are decided by our Costs Appeals Committee (CAC). They tell bill assessors how to interpret the rules for assessing claims for costs.

Often overlooked, POPs are extremely important for all contracted service providers. Clause 3.4 of the Contract Standard Terms makes them binding on all contract work.

New Point of Principle of General Importance – Crimla 77

Point of Principle Crimla 77 has recently been issued by the Cost Appeals Committee and clarifies the rules regarding claiming post charge police station work.

This POP confirms that solicitors can choose to claim this work either in the Investigations Class or as part of the substantive claim in the Proceedings Class of Work.
