What is a very high cost case?
A very high cost criminal case (VHCC) is one where the trial is likely to last for 41 days or more. A defence team is made up of the solicitors firm, counsel and any experts instructed.
The new VHCC contract
Our VHCC project will deliver a panel of specialist providers for these cases. This was determined by competitive tender.
New contracts for panel members and advocates are published on the Crime contracts>Very high cost case contracts page.
Information for VHCC panel members
The new VHCC panel starts on 14 Jan. We will confirm the panel solicitors on 15 Jan and panel advocates on 22 Jan.
For more information
Important information from our Complex Crime Unit on rules regarding new and existing VHCCs is under the Crime contracts>Very high cost case contract pages.
